Otolith, a wholesale direct seafood distributor was opened in 2007 by Bella Bossard (age three), Andre Bossard (1 year old) and Bossard's mother. Bossard had returned to Philadelphia following the birth of two children. She and her husband are separated by five months, and she is able to be focused on her goals in terms of finances and her environmental goals. Bossard along with her two children Andre 10 and Isabella 12 make their annual return for a visit to Southeast Alaska as deckhands to catch wild salmon in summer. In a small 42 salmon troller using hooks and lines to catch their targeted salmon, they join Aritan for two months, selling to local processors, and then continuing to increase their direct market seafood items sold via Otolith Sustainable Seafood by way of purchasing the custom processing services of small processors who create distinctive wild seafood products that show their commitment to quality and the environment.
